Home Automation System By Android Application And Voice Control
In home automation, integrating Arduino and Android technology has paved the way for sophisticated yet user-friendly solutions. This paper presents a detailed guide on building a do-it-yourself home appliance control system using Arduino and an Android app. The system allows users to control various home appliances, including lights and fans, from their smartphones. Central to the system is the Arduino Nano, serving as the brain, and the HC-05 Bluetooth module for wireless communication with the Android application. A 4-channel relay module is used for appliance control, and a 5-volt, 2-ampere power adapter provides the necessary power. The paper discusses the integration of the EEPROM library into the Arduino code to maintain load statuses across power cycles. The code also utilizes the SoftwareSerial library to enable communication with the Bluetooth module without detaching it during code upload. The Android app, developed using the MIT App Inventor, features buttons for load control, a Bluetooth connection button, and labels for displaying load and power statuses. Voice control functionality is implemented using speech recognition, enhancing accessibility and hands-free operation. The paper concludes with a discussion of the energy-saving and convenience benefits of home automation. It encourages enthusiasts to explore further enhancements and expand the system’s capabilities to create a fully automated smart home. Overall, the combination of Arduino and Android technology offers a comprehensive home automation solution, enabling users to control their appliances effortlessly through both voice and physical controls.
