Modelling and Simulation of Fiber Bragg Grating Sensors for Temperature and Pressure Measurements in Environmental Monitoring Stations
In this research work, Fiber Bragg Grating based sensors are designed and simulated in conjunction with mechanical structure modelling software to analyse temperature and pressure in environmental monitoring stations. During temperature analysis using hot water in steel beaker, initial temperature was setup to be 373K and after 30minutes it was found to be that the temperature was reduced to 347K. In case of pressure measurement in an S shaped PVC pipe, pressure drop at outlet for different inlet air inputs was determined. Results obtained from both parameters was analyzed using simulation script. The integration of mechanical structure modelling software and validation with simulation script offers a sophisticated platform for simulation and analysis, enabling to model complex scenarios with ease before practical experimentation. Uniqueness of the project deals with robust nature of steel which makes it suitable for various environmental conditions ensuring long-term reliability in outdoor monitoring stations, PVC’s corrosion resistance and lightweight reduces maintenance requirements and overall system cost. The simulation process involved development of mathematical models to accurately represent the behavior of FBG sensors under varying pressure and temperature conditions.
