IoT-Based Secure Medicine Supply Chain Using Blockchain Technology
From manufacture to distribution, the Internet of Things product life cycle is streamlined by supply chain management (SCM) control. Supply chain management requires blockchain integration to provide end-to-end monitoring, manufacturer-customer confidence, the eradication of fraud and counterfeit goods, and customisation of administrative expenses and documentation. The proposed project integrates blockchain and IoT technology to create a secure and transparent medical supply chain tracking system. RFID tags are affixed to medicine containers and sealed, ensuring authenticity from manufacturing to vendor delivery. At each checkpoint—manufacturing, dispatch, arrival, and vendor—the RFID tags are scanned, updating the location data on the blockchain. This process prevents the entry of counterfeit medicines into the supply chain. Vendors can verify the authenticity of the packages by scanning the RFID tags; a green light indicates authenticity, while a red light signals a counterfeit. The IoT components include NodeMCU, breadboard, and two lights for verification, an RFID tag and scanner etc providing real-time feedback during scanning. The blockchain ensures the integrity and security of medical data throughout the supply chain, enhancing trust and safety in the healthcare sector.
