Blockchain-Enabled QR Verification System for Authenticating GI-Tagged Products in E-Commerce

In the rapidly evolving landscape of digital commerce, safeguarding the authenticity and traceability of Geographical Indication (GI) tagged products has become increasingly important. These products, celebrated for their unique origins and traditional production methods, are vulnerable to counterfeiting and fraud, especially in online markets. Current verification systems often fall short in providing the necessary integrity, traceability, and user authentication, undermining consumer trust. This paper presents a Blockchain-enabled QR verification system specifically designed for GI -tagged products in e-commerce. By integrating blockchain technology with QR codes, our system establishes an immutable ledger that records all transactions and product movements, ensuring transparency and authenticity at every stage. Each product is assigned a unique QR code, which is directly linked to its blockchain record, allowing consumers to easily verify the product's origin and production details with a simple scan. This approach not only enhances supply chain transparency but also significantly reduces the risk of counterfeiting, thereby bolstering consumer trust and engagement. By addressing the limitations of existing verification systems, this blockchain-based solution fosters the integrity and reliability of GI-tagged products in the digital marketplace.
