Enhancing Hydrogen Fuel Cell Hybrid Electric Vehicle Performance With Strategies Based on Optimized Equivalent Factors

The development of energy management strategies (EMS) is crucial for maximizing the performance and fuel economy of hydrogen fuel cell hybrid electric vehicle (HFCHEV). To enhance the robustness and adaptability of current energy management strategies for HFCHEV across various driving scenarios, this paper improves one of the most promising HFCHEV control schemes-the equivalent consumption minimization strategy (ECMS). Based on the operating conditions of the hybrid power system (HPS) in dynamic driving environments, the design of the equivalent factor (EF) is optimized. Subsequently, an adaptive coefficient suitable for the current driving mode is integrated to establish a dynamic cost function that allows real-time adjustments. Finally, to evaluate the control effectiveness of the optimized strategy, a comparative simulation experiment with the dynamic programming (DP) strategy was conducted. The simulation results indicate that the optimized ECMS possesses performance nearly comparable to that of the DP strategy.
