Reliability Design Methods for Autonomous Systems

This paper proposes a reliability design methodology for autonomous systems, building a reliability requirement framework through model-based requirements analysis and functional design. The paper starts from the characteristics of perception, decision-making, action, and monitoring in autonomous systems, and decomposes the functional, performance, resource, environmental, and quantitative reliability requirements. It defines the system's functional architecture and conducts failure analysis, uncovering shortcomings in the initial design. In response to failure scenarios such as functional loss, degradation, and mismatch, this paper proposes improvement strategies, including redundancy design, margin design, and multi-version algorithms, aiming to enhance task success rates and reliability. Ultimately, the paper provides a comprehensive reliability design framework and practical guidance for the safe operation of autonomous systems in complex environments.
