Graph Networks for Precision Medical Diagnostics and Treatment Optimization

This study introduces an innovative methodology designed to address the limitations inherent in traditional medical decision-making systems, particularly concerning the management of extensive and heterogeneous medical datasets and the provision of individualized treatment recommendations. We propose a novel algorithm that harnesses graph neural networks (GNNs) to advance personalized medical decision processes. By being the first to apply GNNs within the medical sector, our research focuses on developing a highly accurate patient health representation model that meticulously examines the complex interactions among clinical features, genetic data, and lifestyle factors. Medical information is organized into a graph structure, where nodes represent various entities such as patients, diseases, and genes, and edges denote their interconnections. A central component of this algorithm is a multi-scale fusion framework that integrates patient medical histories, physiological data, and genetic profiles, enabling dynamic fine-tuning of the GNN’s attention mechanism to support customized case analyses. Comprehensive experimental evaluations across multiple publicly available medical datasets demonstrate that the proposed algorithm outperforms traditional machine learning techniques and standalone GNN models in disease prediction, treatment efficacy assessment, and patient risk stratification.
