Improvement of Power Quality in Distribution Network at low voltage side by using DVR
The study investigated a power distribution system design featuring two feeder lines and a coupling bus tied to a single power supply. One of the feeder lines (Feeder Line 2) includes a Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR) can inject the missing energy to a nonlinear load, Feeder Line 1, on the other hand, supplies power to a resistive load. The primary objective is to assess the impact of the DVR on both feeder lines under various disturbances like frequency deviations, voltage transients, voltage instability, and flickers. Key findings highlight “a Potential of the Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR) to alleviate power quality issues, improving the load profile across the system. Additionally, a overall harmonic distortion or Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) values remained below a $5 \%$ threshold in all cases, except for voltage instability and flickers. This study emphasizes the role of customized power devices, such as DVRs, in improving power quality, especially in complex systems prone to disturbances.
