Development of a Geolocation-Based Database System for Enhanced Diabetes Management
The built environment significantly influences the management and outcomes of Type 2 diabetes. Factors such as the availability of recreational areas, proximity to healthcare facilities, and access to healthy food options can impact patients’ physical activity levels and overall health. This paper addresses the challenges of collecting built environment data for Type 2 diabetes patients by utilizing the Google Maps API to save information about nearby facilities. This comprehensive data provides healthcare practitioners with a holistic view of patients’ surroundings, which is crucial for optimizing diabetes management. I have successfully extracted all the details of nearby places, including hospitals, recreational areas, restaurants, and grocery malls, using the Google Maps API and saved this information into Firebase.
