Subcontractor Selection in Construction Projects Using AHP and VIKOR Methods for Optimized Decision-Making
Selecting the right subcontractors is essential for the success of construction projects, as it significantly influences cost, quality, and timelines. This study introduces a hybrid approach integrating the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and VIKOR (VlseKriterijumska Optimizacija I Kompromisno Resenje) methods to streamline subcontractor evaluation and selection.AHP is utilized to prioritize selection criteria through pairwise comparisons, providing a structured framework to assess factors like cost, technical capability, reliability, and environmental compliance.VIKOR complements this by ranking subcontractors and identifying the best compromise solution among competing options. The approach is applied to a case study involving a medium-scale construction project, where subcontractors are evaluated based on multiple criteria. Results demonstrate that the combined AHP-VIKOR method ensures a transparent, objective, and efficient selection process.Sensitivity analysis further confirms the robustness of the model by analyzing the impact of changing criteria weights on rankings. This integrated approach addresses the limitations of traditional selection methods by combining quantitative and qualitative assessments. It provides project managers with a practical decision-making tool to select subcontractors that align with project goals. The study highlights the potential of advanced multi-criteria decision-making techniques in improving the reliability and sustainability of construction project outcomes.
