In vitro free radical scavenging effects of Titanium dioxide Nanoparticles (TiO2 NPs) biosynthesized using stem extract of Cissus quadrangularis
Plant-mediated fabrication of nanoparticles has gained much attention in recent times owing to its inherent features such as simplicity, cost-effectiveness, eco-friendly, and biocompatibility. Therapeutic applications of nanoparticles are rapidly increasing for their utility in medicine and clinical research. The present study demonstrates the synthesis of Titanium dioxide nanoparticles (TiO2 NPs) using the stem extract of Cissus quadrangularis (C. quadrangularis). The synthesized nanoparticles were characterized using different analytical techniques such as UV, FTIR, FE-SEM, EDX, and XRD. The sharp peak at 269 nm by UV spectra confirmed the synthesis of TiO2 NPs. FTIR studies identified different functional groups involved in the effective capping of AgNPs. The shape and the morphology of the TiO2 nanoparticles by the SEM analysis showed a spherical appearance. FE-SEM has shown that the average particle size is between 5 and 11 nm. The TiO2 NPs exhibited good free radical scavenging activities and were analyzed using DPPH and ABTS. Both TiO2 NPs and C. quadrangularis have bone healing properties and, after further detailed studies, could be used as a successful biomaterial in the future.
