Pencemaran Mikrobiologis pada Kerang Darah (Anadara granosa): Studi Deteksi Bakteri Coliform

This research aimed to detect coliform bacteria in blood cockles (Anadara granosa) collected from Bagan Siapiapi waters, Riau. Coliform bacteria are commonly used as biological indicators to assess water pollution levels and food safety. Blood cockle samples were directly collected, processed in the laboratory, and analyzed using Endo agar media for coliform detection and characterization. The observations focused on colony morphology, including color, shape, edges, and elevation. The results revealed the presence of three colony isolates with varying numbers and characteristics. Isolate 1 consisted of 26 colonies with irregular shapes, pinkish-yellow color, and convex surfaces. Isolate 2 had 21 colonies with similar characteristics but exhibited a more reddish color. Isolate 3 showed the highest colony count, reaching 60 colonies/ml, with circular shapes and pink coloration. The abundance of coliform bacteria exceeded the maximum microbial contamination limit set by Indonesia's Food and Drug Administration, indicating a high health risk for consumers. This study highlights the need for effective water sanitation management and microbiological testing of fishery products to safeguard public health from microbial contamination.
