Application of Snake-Like Robot in Pipeline Inspection

Snake robots are widely used in pipeline inspection, mainly in the fields of energy and urban sewage treatment. Since pipelines are usually located in a small space, conventional manual inspection faces significant challenges and poses substantial safety risks. The snake robot has become an ideal tool for dealing with these complex environments with its flexible movement ability and high maneuverability. The robot can move flexibly in the pipeline through bionic design. In addition, the modular design can achieve different movement modes and can easily deal with bends, obstacles and narrow areas in the pipeline. When performing tasks, the snake robot can observe the situation inside the pipeline through a high-definition camera and feedback this information to the operator at the first time for timely maintenance. In complex pipelines, the snake robot not only needs a waterproof and corrosion-resistant body, but also needs to be equipped with a high-pressure water gun to dredge some blocked pipes. In addition to these devices, the snake robot is also equipped with a variety of sensors, such as ultrasonic sensors and infrared sensors, which can help the robot sense obstacles in real time, automatically plan paths to bypass these obstacles, and ensure the smooth progress of the inspection task.
