From the Desk of President-Elect (2023-24)

Dear Esteemed Members, Greetings to all the members of the Indian Academy of Oral Medicine and Radiology (IAOMR). As I step into the role of President of IAOMR for the year 2024-25, I am filled with both pride and a profound sense of responsibility. I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude for the trust you have placed in me, and the support you all have extended to me since the day I started serving this Academy as an EC member way back in 2005. It is indeed an honor and privilege to represent the specialists of Oral Medicine and Radiology of our country, and I am truly excited at the opportunity to serve this august body as the President. We are at a pivotal moment in the field of Oral Medicine and Radiology, facing both challenges and opportunities that demand our collective expertise and innovation. As we move forward, my focus will be on fostering collaboration, innovation, and inclusivity. In the coming year, I am committed to enhancing our resources and addressing the challenges we face in our ever-evolving field. Together, we will explore innovative approaches to education, research, and clinical practice. In the coming months, I look forward to engaging with each of you, listening to your ideas, and fostering an environment where every voice is heard and where we can collectively elevate our standards. I am looking forward to a productive year ahead and to meeting many of you at our upcoming events. Our strength lies in our unity and collective expertise, and I am committed to ensuring that our Academy remains a beacon of support and advocacy for all members. I am looking forward to IAOMR collaborating with universities across the country to develop value-added courses for the budding Oral Medicine and Radiology specialists, for which I request the help and support of members who are at the helm of affairs related to university-level administration. Our Academy has been at the forefront of advancing the field of Oral Medicine and Radiology, and I am committed to continuing that legacy. I wished to develop a system of support for research being done by IAOMR members, for which required steps have been initiated this year, and for which guidelines/framework needs to be formulated along the lines of the Indian Council of Medical Research. Your voices are essential, and I request each of you to share your insights and ideas, as they are vital to our collective success and in shaping our initiatives. I am looking forward to support from members who can coordinate with government/national bodies and incorporate Oral Medicine and Radiology personnel into their decision-making processes related to our subject. Along the same lines, I am also looking forward to support from members who are key opinion leaders (KOLs) for radiology equipment manufacturers to improve the coordination between radiology equipment manufacturers and the Academy. I encourage open communication and invite you to share your proposals and feedback as we shape our goals together. I look forward to collaborating with each of you as we work to elevate our profession and enhance patient care. Further, I am looking ahead to the Academy publishing ‘white papers’ by framing (the Indian perspective of) standard guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of common oral mucosal lesions. Let us work together to promote excellence in the field of Oral Medicine and Radiology, improve patient care, and support one another as we navigate the complexities of our profession. Thank you for your trust and support, again. Together, let us make the upcoming year, a year of growth and achievement. Let us make this a transformative and rewarding journey for all of us. Jai Hind!
