NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF HYDRODYNAMIC LUBRICATION PERFORMANCE ON TEXTURED ROUGH SURFACE OF CYLINDRICAL ROLLER BEARINGS
To master the lubrication performance of textured cylindrical roller bearings, the tribological characteristics of the roller and the inner ring with textured rough surfaces is studied in this paper. A hydrodynamic lubrication model of textured surfaces considering the effect of surface roughness is established based on the principle that the normal load is shared by microasperities and lubricating oil film. The finite difference method is employed for numerical solution to investigate the influences of different operating conditions, texture types, and surface roughness on the oil film load capacity and friction coefficient. The numerical calculation results show that the effect of texture size on the oil film-bearing capacity can be determined by the texture type. With the increase of texture depth, the oil film-bearing capacity initially increases and then decreases. Elliptical parallel textures have optimal surface density, and the average oil film pressure is negatively correlated with the sliding-to-rolling ratio. The influence of surface roughness peak height on the friction coefficient also depends on the texture type, while the influence of surface roughness peak wavelength on the average oil film pressure is minimal. When the rotational speed is within a certain range, the average oil film pressure on the textured rough surface rises as the rotational speed increases.
