All optical XNOR gate using chiral Mach–Zehnder interferometer

This communication proposes an all-optical XNOR gate using a cascaded chiral Mach–Zehnder Interferometer (CMZI) with ultra-low power requirements. The chiral material (CM) (such as quartz) rotates the states of polarization of an optical signal and controls this polarization rotation with all-optical chiral switch works. The output of the switch drastically changes depending on the presence or absence of another control signal, which is the basic part of understanding the principle of operation of this device, which is executing an XNOR logic operation. The practical feasibility of the device is investigated by calculating different parameters like amplitude modulation (AM[Formula: see text][Formula: see text]dB), extinction ratio (ER[Formula: see text][Formula: see text]dB), contrast ratio (CR[Formula: see text][Formula: see text]dB), [Formula: see text]-factor ([Formula: see text][Formula: see text]dB), relative eye-opening (REO[Formula: see text]%), etc. These high values suggest efficient performance, and therefore, these devices may be useful for all future optical logic processing and networks.
