Radiation-Chemical Fixation of Nitrogen in an Aqueous Solution of H2 and N2 under Accelerated Proton Irradiation. Mathematical Model and Its Verification

In this paper, we present a mathematical model of the radiation-chemical synthesis of ammonia in an aqueous solution of nitrogen and hydrogen. To verify the model, our own previously unpublished data obtained at the Protoka stand are used [1]. In experiments at the stand, protons with energy of 30 MeV from the cyclotron of the National Research Center Kurchatov Institute were used as a simulator of radiation from a nuclear reactor. The irradiation conditions, namely, temperature, pressure, absorbed dose rate, and the composition of the solutions, corresponded to those characteristics of the primary contour of reactor plant with pressurized water. To substantiate the adequacy of the developed mathematical model, the statistical theory of correlation was used. Calculations showed that the correlation coefficient between the calculated and experimental values of synthesized ammonia concentration is 0.90, which indicates the presence of a strong positive correlation between the calculated and experimental data. The maximum deviation of the experimentally obtained concentrations of synthesized ammonia from the calculated values was ±80%. Taking into account the complexity of the experiment at the Protoka stand, which affects the error of experimental data, the proposed mathematical model should be considered adequate with allowance for the resulting error.
