Rapid in-situ fabrication of MnSnO3 perovskite-based nanocomposites via microwave-assisted approach for supercapacitor devices

Perovskite oxide materials have demonstrated superior electrochemical performance for supercapacitor (SC) applications in recent times. Combining the substantial attributes of this league of materials with carbonaceous materials has further been demonstrated to enrich the electrochemical activity because of the combination of both pseudocapacitance and electric double-layer capacitance. Herein, we report a unique, time-, cost-effective, in-situ synthetic microwave-assisted approach for developing SC nanocomposite electrodes based on MnSnO 3 perovskite and reduced graphene oxide (rGO). This microwave-assisted approach consents rapid conversion of perovskite hydroxide to its corresponding oxide within 30 s facilitated by rGO. The synthesized composite electrode exhibited a good specific capacity of 195.8C g −1 at the current density of 2 A g −1 and enhanced cycling stability of 124 % over 15,000 cycles. Furthermore, the corresponding aqueous asymmetric SC device displayed an energy density of 21.5 Wh kg −1 and a cycling stability of 81 % after 5000 cycles. Overall, the current article demonstrates a novel synthetic strategy to fabricate perovskite oxide-based SC devices. • Novel strategy to convert of perovskite hydroxide to oxide within a few seconds • Microwave synthesized MnSnO 3 /rGO composite displayed a capacity of 195.8C g −1 . • The composite displayed a cycling stability of 124 % over 15,000 cycles. • MnSnO 3 /rGO//rGO device exhibited an energy density of 21.5 Wh kg −1 .
