Exploring the Patterns of Acupuncture Point Combinations for Hair Loss Treatment Through Data Mining
Objective: This study employs data mining techniques to explore the patterns of acupuncture point combinations used in the treatment of hair loss. The goal is to provide clinical references for non-invasive hair loss treatments. Methods: We conducted a literature search on platforms including CNKI, VIP, SinoMed, WanFang, PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science, as well as historical medical records, for randomized controlled trials on acupuncture treatment for hair loss from 2005 to August 2, 2023. Our inclusion criteria were randomized controlled trials that specifically addressed acupuncture treatments for hair loss, with detailed patient characteristics and treatment outcomes. Exclusion criteria included non-clinical studies, case reports, and studies lacking sufficient methodological rigor. Data extraction was performed by two independent reviewers, with discrepancies resolved through consensus or by a third reviewer. We utilized SPSS 25.0 to analyze the frequency of acupuncture point usage, meridian affiliation, selection of specific points, and association rules among points. Cytoscape 3.10.0 software was applied for network visualization of point correlationsand disease-point relationships. Results: A total of 100 articles were included, extracting 319 prescriptions for hair loss involving 126 acupuncture points with a total of 698 usage instances. Conclusion: The treatment of hair loss with acupuncture has gradually established a pattern centered around specific point combinations, primarily guided by the principles of "regulating the governor vessel to calm the spirit, cooling blood to extinguish wind, and promoting qi and blood circulation.
