A Modified V2 Control Scheme For Load Rapid Transient Response with Nonlinear Control Feature of a Cascaded Pulsed Load Power Supply

Abstract

This paper studies a cascaded pulsed load power supply (PLPS) for the purpose to attain a higher decoupling performance and lower output voltage drops. For the cascaded PLPS system, a modified V2 control mechanism has been developed from combination of V2 and current mode control (CMC), in which the output voltage is fed into both loops. The nonlinear capability, faster load transient response and normal functioning for all values of duty cycle D of this control approach are plus points of V2 and CM C controls that leads to higher power decoupling performance. A PLPS with maximum power of 784 W and a mean power of 117.6 W, an input DC voltage of 100 V with a peak pulsed load current of 28 amperes, and a pulse repeating frequency (PRF) ranged within the interval of 100 to 300 Hz is used for simulation and analysis. The results of the study confirmed that the optimized control method outperforms over the competitive control methods of CMC and V2 control for the cascaded PLPS configurations.
