Research of the differential power control method for novel wind turbine
The innovative wind turbine features a variable ratio transmission system, consists of a differential gear train alongside a speed-regulating motor. This system enables the turbine to adjust its output independently of wind speeds. Notably, the synchronous generator integrated within this setup directly connects to the power grid, eliminating the need for a frequency converter. This design ensures that while the wind rotor's speed fluctuates, the generator rotor maintains a steady speed, achieving a variable speed but constant frequency operation. This seamless integration enhances efficiency and stability in energy production. Research on the power control strategy for this type of wind turbine remains unexplored. So, the Differential Power Control (DPC) technique, a pivotal method in wind turbine management, has been meticulously analyzed across varying wind conditions, specifically focusing on speeds that diverge from the standard rated s peed. This examination utilizes the interrelated dynamics of the wind energy utilization rate (Cp), pitch angle (β), and tip speed ratio (λ) to opti mize power output. A detailed simulation was conducted using SIMULINK to construct a 1500 kW wind turbine model, which integrates differential speed regulation. Various wind speeds served as inputs to assess the model's responsiveness and efficiency under fluctuating environmental conditions. The effectiveness of the Differential Power Control (DPC) technique in managing grid-connected wind turbines with variable speed regulation is validated through a comparative analysis of simulation outputs against theoretical benchmarks of critical parameters.
