Optimization of preventive and opportunistic maintenance strategies for wind turbines

Traditional preventive maintenance strategies are increasingly insufficient to address the diverse maintenance demands of win d turbines. This paper explores a comprehensive approach to optimize preventive maintenance tasks for wind turbine systems, developing a corresponding strategy optimization model. This model incorporates the age reduction factor and the failure rate increasing factor into the degradation process of component maintenance, constructing a failure rate function for components under imperfect maintenance conditions. Building upon this, the concept of opportunistic maintenance is introduced, which considers the structural and temporal characteristics of the maintenance tasks. The opportunistic maintenance coefficient of components is used as the optimization variable in the target model, creating maintenance optimization models that aim to minimize maintenance costs while maximizing system availability. A multi-objective optimization model for wind turbine maintenance strategies is formulated through a comprehensive assessment of maintenance costs and availability indicators, employing the objective weighting method. The results demonstrate that the opportunistic maintenance strategy can significantly reduce the total maintenance costs during the effective operational period of the wind turbine and enhance syst em availability. The proposed maintenance model effectively meets the varied needs of decision-makers.
