Weapon system of systems mission reliability allocation method based on RBD model and dynamic programming

In the design of systems of systems, it is crucial to effectively manage equipment reliability through precise reliability allocation. However, existing research on reliability allocation methods tailored specifically for systems of systems remains sparse. Standard practices often apply allocation methods such as equal allocation, AGREE allocation, AHP allocation, and score allocation, which are typically unconstrained and do not account for the redundancy relationships among units, thus imposing unrealistically high-reliability demands on individual units. Among constrained methods, the direct search method only considers parallel relationships, limiting its applicability. In contrast, dynamic programming accommodates various constraints, rendering it mo re appropriate for systems of systems. This paper introduces a mission reliability allocation method for systems of systems, leveraging the Reliability Block Diagram (RBD) model and dynamic programming. This approach integrates redundancy relationships and additional constraints into the allocation process. An objective function aimed at maximizing basic reliability is established, incorporating constraints derived from mission reliability requirements and expert evaluations to formulate a comprehensive mission reliability allocation model. A novel algorithm is then proposed to determine the optimal allocation, which is validated through a case study and comparative analysis. The findings demonstrate that this method effectively lower s the reliability demands on individual components while ensuring the overall mission reliability meets established standards.
