The Effect of Risk Factors for Coronary Heart Disease on Transaminase Levels

Coronary heart disease (CHD) is caused by blood vessel blockage due to fat accumulation. Risk factors for CHD include age, gender, comorbidities, and BMI. An increase in high lipid levels in the body is an important factor in the pathophysiology of CHD. Additionally, elevated lipid levels can lead to fat accumulation in the liver, thereby increasing transaminase levels. Elevated transaminase levels can indicate heart disorders. This study aims to examine the influence of CHD risk factors on transaminase levels at Dr. Soegiri Hospital, Lamongan. This research uses cross-sectional design with descriptive analysis. Data were collected prospectively. The analysis conducted using Spearman's Rank Correlation Test. Out of 104 patients studied, 96 patients met the inclusion criteria. The analysis results showed P-value <0.05 for the risk factors of gender (P=0.00), age (P=0.00), and BMI (P=0.00) in relation to transaminase levels. These results indicate significant influence of the risk factors gender, age, and BMI on transaminase levels. In advanced age, organ function declines, affecting transaminase levels. Gender differences affect transaminase levels due to hormonal differences and liver enzyme activity, and in patients with high BMI, there is metabolic imbalance of fats, leading to fat accumulation in adipose tissues, which affects transaminase levels.
