First-time pregnant women are called as primigravida, they are very new to the pregnancy hence less knowledge about the physiological and psychological changes during pregnancy, labor and care of baby.Childbirth is a natural and universal phenomenon.Although labor is among the most painful events in human experience, supportive care is given to reduce woman's anxiety and discomfort.(D'Silva P, Mathias A. (2016).METHODOLOGY: Objectives -To assess the effectiveness of educational video on child birth stress. To find an association between the child birth stress with demographic variables.A quantitative research approach and an experimental research design was utilized for the present study.Sample was total 195 (98 in study & 97 control group) primigravida mothers after 33 weeks of gestation attending antenatal clinic at Krishna Hospital Karad.Who are going to deliver in the same hospital, available during data collection period.Sampling technique was randomization with lottery method Result-In sample characteristic majority primigravida mothers 63.26% and 71.13 % between the ages of 18 and 24 years from study and control group respectively.majority of primigravida mothers 89.79% and 68.04% were from joint family from both the groups respectively.According to education 33.67% from study group were completed graduation level and from the control group 42.26 % mothers completed higher secondary education.Majority mothers 85.71% and 83.50 %were from hindu religion and 86.73% and 89.69% were house wife respectively from both the groups.Mean score (75.425.09)childbirth stress during labour in the study group showed significant differences compared to the control group mean score (55.809.50).So, it clearly indicates that childbirth stress during labour in study group who was received the child birth educational video was significantly less (<0.0001) than the control group, which was given routine information about childbirth process.CONCLUSION: This study concluded that child birth educational video was an effective method for reduction in childbirth stress.
