A Forecast of the "Digital Twin" Technology Introduction in the Fuel and Energy and Mineral Resources Complexes
The article considers a forecast for the development of the "Digital Twin" technology up to 2035 for domestic companies relating to the fuel and energy and mineral resources complexes. The possibility of technology implementation is assessed, and the problems arising during its implementation are analyzed. Systematization and generalization of sources on the topic are used as the research method. Three forecast scenarios are modeled: basic, negative and innovative. The forecast is done proceeding from the basic scenario and was elaborated considering the factors that take into account the influence of the political environment, economic environment of companies, availability of skilled personnel, import substitution processes, and changes in legislation. The study results can be used by fuel and energy complex companies to identify challenges encountered in implementing the digital twin, and by the government to identify financial support measures for the development of the technology. A conclusion has been drawn that Russian fuel and energy complex companies are unable to implement digital twin technology on a mass scale until 2035 unless financial support measures are provided and additional university training programs are set up. The import substitution problem will remain unsolved: the dependence on China's market of instrumentation and control (I&C) devices will only decrease to 65% by 2035.
