PHILOSOPHICAL POTENTIAL OF EASTERN THEOLOGY: FROM ANTIQUITY TO MODERNITY
The article examines the conceptual developments of G. Florovsky in the field of theology with the aim of revealing the philosophical potential of the teachings of the Eastern Fathers of the Church. The thesis is substantiated that Eastern theology contains such directions of thought that can act as alternative to the already formed directions of Western European philosophy. Thus, the theology of the Eastern Church Fathers has the potential to overcome the crisis of European metaphysics. Particular attention is paid to the problem of the reception of Platonism in Eastern theology. The author identifies and analyzes two opposite directions of the influence of Platonism on theological thought: at the level of content and at the level of form. It is shown that the most acceptable in the history of theology is the second direction. An analysis of the teachings of I. Kant and F. Nietzsche is also carried out in the light of the ideas of the Eastern church fathers.
