The Mechanism of RNA-Dependent Intergenerational Inheritance and Factors Affecting Its Transition to Transgenerational Inheritance
Some studies have revealed the effects of environmental arsenic exposure on the learning and memory ability of male rats and its epigenetic mechanism, and found that arsenic exposure led to the downregulation of cognitive-related gene expression, the change of histone modification, and then caused neurotoxicity, and the paternity exposure caused cross-generation learning and memory impairment in F2 generation male rats. In fact, in addition to the harsh environment, providing a favorable environment for mice can also show the phenomenon of cross-generational inheritance in their offspringVarious studies indicate that the environmental enrichment greatly enhance long-term memory and cognitive levels. Environmental enrichment, which includes a rich social and physical environment, enhances long-term memory and cognitive function in mice. For example, the offspring of male mice that received environmental enrichment and emotional training show substantial gains in cognitive ability and long-term potentiation (LTP), even without similar training themselves. This suggests that the impact of environmental enrichment can be inherited genetically to the subsequent generation. It is thought that the genetic effect of miR 212/ 132 in sperm is mediated by the former. While prior studies emphasize the significance of miR 212/132, the current study focuses primarily on the available literature and has some limitations. Thus, this proposal will try to expand the knowledge of factors connected with memory inheritance, especially the factors associated with the impact of environmental effects in enrichment, and thus, understand the actual complexity of the aforementioned genetic processes and the modulating influence of environmental stimuli on the genetic patterns.
