Synthesis,Characterizationand Antibacterial Activity ofanAzoCompound-BasedSchiffBase Derived fromRhodamine B

Rhodamine-based Schiff bases are interesting functional materials because of their bright color, durability, and biomedical uses, particularly as antibacterial agents. This study synthesized and characterized novel Rhodamine-based Schiff base (RSB) to investigate their structural characteristics and antibacterial activity. The synthesized dyes were characterized via FTIR, H NMR, C NMR, and LC-MS to ensure their structural integrity and purity. Antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, E. coli, and P. aeruginosa strains resulted in considerable growth inhibition (mm SD) of 12.7 0.16, 10.9 0.13, and 9.6 0.13, respectively, with a purely synthesized Rhodamine-based azo Schiff base solution. The results indicate possibilities for the use of textile coatings, wound dressings, and pharmaceuticals. Photodegradation and poor water solubility can be overcome by structural changes via the use of hydrophilic substituents. The biocompatibility and low cytotoxicity of RSB make it appealing; however, in vivo research is scarce. This study highlights the potential of a RSB as an antibacterial agent in healthcare.
