Recet advances in multilevel converter and impedance source converter for electric power engineering
New energy converters improve energy efficiency and power quality by converting electricity generated from renewable sources, such as solar and wind, into a form suitable for use by the grid or the user. They perform well in high-voltage and high-power applications, reducing harmonic distortion and electromagnetic interference, thereby enhancing system reliability and stability, and thus becoming the mainstream power components of today. This paper reviews the key role of multilevel converter in power grid, especially in electric power system, which can effectively convert DC to multilevel AC, reduce harmonics, improve waveform quality and improve system efficiency. This paper analyzes its working principle and topology, discusses its application in power systems such as wind power generation. Furthermore, this paper presents the application of impedance source converter in distributed energy system, which can improve energy conversion efficiency and system stability by matching impedance characteristics. These studies provide design references and implementation schemes for the application of multilevel converters and impedance source converters in power grids and distributed energy systems, which are of great significance for improving the efficiency of power systems and optimizing energy utilization.
