Design of erbium-doped fiber laser with 1500 nm wavelength based on numerical simulation approach
Fiber lasers are widely employed in many different industries and have been the focus of extensive study in the past few years. This paper uses a physics model-driven numerical simulation method to design a fiber laser that can emit a 1500 nm laser with a pump light of 980 nm. The rate and power equations of the fiber laser are discussed through the analysis of its theoretical model, and the processes of absorption, emission, and nonradiative leaps are discussed through the analysis of the three-energy-level system of trivalent erbium ions. Finally, the model simulation using Matlab is used to obtain the variation of its pump power and laser emission power, and the results are analyzed to obtain the final design of the 1500 nm laser. This paper is organized as follows, which will first introduce the research method and theoretical model of fiber laser. Then, it analyzes and discusses its simulation results, and finally summarizes the results and presents an outlook.
