Exploring the multifaceted applications and future prospects of halide perovskites in the optoelectronic field
In recent years, a significant number of experiments and research projects have focused on metal halide perovskite due to its unique structural characteristics and exceptional optoelectrical properties, especially in applications like solar cells and light-emitting diodes (LEDs). Despite its potential, metal halide perovskite faces notable challenges such as poor stability in moist environments and health risks associated with its lead content. This review primarily highlights recent advancements in the field, with a particular focus on enhancements in LED outcoupling efficiency and innovations aimed at improving the stability and performance of perovskite solar cells. Additionally, it discusses advanced formulations of halide perovskite, including narrowband, lead-free, and low-dimensional variants, which are being developed to achieve higher performance levels and move closer to commercial viability. The review concludes by addressing several pressing challenges and providing a critical outlook on the future prospects of this promising material, underscoring the need for continued research and development to overcome existing limitations and fully harness its technological potential.
