Thermal analysis of hybrid electric propulsion machine
The electric propulsion system for aircraft has garnered increasing attention due to its clean and efficient characteristics, providing more flexible and sustainable solutions while achieving zero emissions and low noise. As a critical component of electric propulsion, the machine must provide corresponding electrical energy at different operating stages, making thermal management design crucial. This paper focuses on the thermal design and analysis of air-cooled permanent magnet synchronous machine. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis was used to calculate temperature distribution and air friction loss in the machine. The results show that the winding temperature are 109°C, the permanent magnet temperature are 57°C at rated operating conditions, and the air friction loss is 522.7W. By reducing the distance between the fan end and the wall, the air flow entering the machine increases by 21% and the stator core temperature decrease by 11°C. This calculation method and optimized structure can provide a reference for subsequent air-cooled machine structural design.
