Numerical simulation investigations on throttling and buffering performance of hydraulic thrust reverser actuator
In order to gain a deeper understanding of the throttling and buffering characteristics of hydraulic thrust reverser actuators, this paper uses numerical simulation to investigate the effects of different parameters, including the inclination angle of the throttle hole, the diameter of the oil discharge port, the surface roughness of the cylinder, the size of the buffer ring opening, and the surface smoothness of the buffer ring, on the throttling and buffering characteristics of the actuator. And the investigations indicate that increasing the inclination angle of the wedge-shaped throttle hole appropriately contributes to shorten the buffering time during the actuator deployment. Increasing the surface friction coefficient inside the actuator cylinder can improve the throttling and buffering performance of buffering component. Reducing the size of buffer ring opening can reduce the trailing velocity of the piston. It can be inferred from the variation of different opening sizes and friction coefficients with smoothness that the surface smoothness of the buffer ring needs to meet appropriate requirements for the buffer ring to function properly.
