Remote terminal-oriented power line carrier communication technology

This article presents an innovative approach to airborne remote terminals, addressing limitations of traditional systems through a software and hardware solution enabling flexible system architecture and functional decoupling. The proposed solution aims to overcome challenges such as tightly coupled computing resources, inflexible bus topologies, and hindered cross-platform reuse. The focus lies on power line carrier (PLC) communication technology, utilizing aircraft power lines for data transmission to reduce weight and complexity. Extensive research was conducted on signal modulation and carrier coupling techniques tailored for airborne terminals, with the selection of the most suitable technical route based on thorough analysis. A system simulation model was developed to validate the chosen approach, allowing performance evaluation in a simulated environment. While the article provides a comprehensive overview, detailed analysis of factors like power supply characteristics, signal propagation, noise, interference, and operational conditions' impact on communication systems remains pending. Nevertheless, the established model enables further optimization and evaluation by researchers to refine modulation and coupling techniques and enhance overall system performance before hardware implementation and testing.
