STUDYING THE POSSIBILITY OF OBTAINING EDIBLE OIL FROM SILK INDUSTRY WASTE
This scientific work examines the possibilities of effective use of silkworm cocoon waste, a waste of sericulture, oil separation from the waste, and purification of the separated oil sample to a level that meets the requirements for edible oils. In the conducted studies, a Chinese hybrid variety of silkworms from the “Khorazm Ipagi” LLC enterprise was used. The oil was separated from the samples in 6 different ways: in 5 different organic solvents - extraction gasoline, n-hexane, petroleum ether, isopropyl alcohol, ethyl alcohol and the pressing method. The yield of the oil sample extracted with n-hexane showed the highest at 37%. To purify the obtained oil samples, an alkaline purification method was used. Oil samples were analysed and compared before and after alkaline refining; the acid number of oil extracted with n-hexane after alkaline refining decreased to 1.34 mg KOH.
