Topology design and theoretical modelling of one-way flow path
Flow path is regarded as a greatly crucial transmission component in the fluid power system, whose flow characteristic heavily dependent on the shape profile of flow path. A modified flow path that functions as a simplified check valve is designed to suppress transition backflow in this article. The topology design of flow path was implemented by mean of variable density method with objective of the minimized viscous dissipation energy in COMSOL software. The ratio of the pressure drop between the reverse and forward flow (names as diodicity) is applied to verify the feasibility and rationality of the designed flow path numerically. The theoretical model of designed one-way flow path relying on the validated tapered Segment Transmission Line Method (STLM) was established in MATLAB/Simulink, and its transient pressure ripple and acquired flow can be described. The theoretical results indicated that the designed flow path can accomplish the functionality of suppressing backflow basically, and the maximum diodicity of 8 appears at the Reynold number of 400. Besides, the designed flow path can able to mitigate the downstream pressure pulsation compared with common flow path.
