Trajectory control scheme for a four-switch buck-boost converter with a capacitive power source
The goal for more-electric aircraft (MEA) is to replace most of the major systems currently utilizing nonelectric power, with new electrical systems to improve aircraft performance, such as efficiency and emissions. Compared to conventional aircraft, the implementation of MEA significantly consumes more electrical power, since MEA integrates more high-power loads (HPL) such as electric actuators, directed energy weapons, radars and so on. However, the sudden change of the current of such loads can induce substantial voltage variations on the aircraft power bus, because the dynamic response of a traditional aircraft power supply is inadequate. To enhance the power supply dynamic performance of MEA power generation systems, we propose a capacitive energy storage system (ESS) with a four-switch buck-boost converter on the DC power bus, and present the corresponding fast transient control strategy in this paper.
