Lower limb modelling techniques for Chinese adult males
In various emergency landing and explosion impact scenarios in military and aviation fields, lower limb injuries are hazardous scenarios that occur with high frequency, and risk assessment based on numerical computation is very important for personnel safety and protection design. Currently, the mainstream human finite element model is based on the European and American body size, this paper for the domestic demand for high-precision human body model, based on the scaling method to establish the lower limb finite element model suitable for the Chinese adult male body size. The reliability and biofidelity of the lower limb model were verified in a cadaveric pendulum impact test scenario, and the tibial force response and the risk of lower limb injury of the European and American lower limb models and the Chinese lower limb model were comparatively analysed at four different impact velocities in the experiment. The study showed that at impact velocities greater than 4.5 m/s, the peak tibial force and the risk of lower limb injury decreased by more than 10% in the Chinese-sized lower limb model, proving the necessity of establishing a Chinese-sized model.
