Position sensorless control of permanent magnet synchronous motor for electric propulsion of electric aircraft based on new approach rate
Electric aircraft are currently experiencing rapid development. The electric propulsion system, particularly the permanent magnetic synchronous motor (PMSM), is considered the optimal solution for electric aircraft due to its high power density and efficiency. The sensorless control method of PMSM offers advantages such as simplified mechanical structure, reduced cost, and extended service life. This technology does not rely on position sensors, making it well-suited for meeting the reliability requirements in the complex high-altitude environment of electric aircraft. In this study, we propose an adaptive sliding mode observer method based on a novel approach law to achieve sensorless control by observing rotor position. Simulation results confirm the accuracy and immunity of the observer, demonstrating the effectiveness of our proposed method.
