Objective testing of a civil aircraft flight simulator
The objective testing of a certain type of aircraft flight simulator refers to a series of rigorous tests targeting its flight performance, manoeuvrability, flight envelope protection, high-speed characteristics, small weight, etc., based on the accurate numerical requirements of CCAR-60. Subjects that are tested in this paper include the minimum turning radius, turning rate and front wheel deflection angle, small manoeuvre input-pitch, the dynamic characteristics of landing gear variation as well as the long-period dynamic characteristics specified in CCAR-60. The test result of the simulator is compared with the reference data of real flight test. Their similarity verifies the consistency of the simulator and the real aircraft in the aforementioned aspects. Moreover, results from objective testing can support the fidelity evaluation of the simulator.
