A Német Lovagrend és a tatárok a 13. században
This study covers the northeastern region of Latin Christendom (Lithuania, Prussia, Poland, territories of the Teutonic Knights) and the Russian principalities (Halych, Volyn Oblast, Vladimir, Novgorod) during the period of the Mongol invasions. The rise of the Teutonic Knights, the power relations in the region and the sources of papal power are explored. In the shadow of the Tatar Golden Horde, the Order of the Knights fought in the crusades against the pagan Prussians and against the Russian princes who were dependent on the Tatars. From the end of the 13th century, however, the pagan threat to the Teutonic Knights was no longer posed by the Tatars, but by the formerly allied Lithuanians.
