Application of Eco-Interior Design Concept in Kollektiv Hotel Bandung

Abstract Currently, the port authorities intentionally neglect more than seventeen million shipping containers worldwide, as it is not economically viable to return them to their original locations. Given the current circumstances, we have the opportunity to transform used containers into shipping container buildings, thereby incorporating eco-friendly and sustainable practices into our modern era. Several studies have been conducted on used containers, with a focus on architectural objects, thermal comfort, and life cycle assessment. The research aims to enrich and develop knowledge about sustainable design, particularly in the concept of eco-interior design, especially in hospitality facilities. This research uses purposive sampling, with the sample being Kollektiv Hotel’s in Bandung. We employed a descriptive qualitative methodology and conducted data analysis based on Kusumarini’s eco-interior concepts. The eco-interior design attributes applied include space organisation, material selection, lighting systems, ventilation systems, water sanitation, indoor pollution, electromagnetic emissions, and waste management within the space. This research confirms the importance of eco-interior application for container buildings and is expected to serve as a reference for evaluating the application of the eco-interior concept in the hospitality industry.
