Strengths-Based Time Perspective Intervention for Singaporean Youth
This paper proposes a positive psychology intervention framework for enhancing the wellbeing of Singaporean youth by integrating Zimbardo’s Time Perspective Theory and the VIA Character Strengths model. A systematic review of research on time perspective interventions, coaching, and character strengths reveals that cultivating specific strengths can buffer against negative temporal orientations and promote wellbeing. The three- factor structure of character strengths and their interconnectedness offers valuable insights for developing targeted interventions to cultivate a balanced time perspective and enhance overall wellbeing. This framework holds promise for improving the wellbeing of youth in Singapore and other high- pressure educational contexts.
