O ENSINO DA ÁLGEBRA NOS ANOS INICIAIS: ESTIMULANDO O PENSAMENTO ALGÉBRICO NO CONTEXTO DO LETRAMENTO MATEMÁTICO
This article addresses the importance of teaching algebra in the early years of Elementary Education, considering the context of mathematical literacy. It highlights the relevance of algebra in developing abstract thinking, logical reasoning, problem-solving skills, and students' mathematical literacy. Problem-solving is a fundamental component of this process, fostering discovery, creativity, and reflection on mathematics. In this sense, the importance of a pedagogical approach that values problem-solving within the context of mathematical literacy is emphasized, providing students with opportunities for collaborative learning and the application of mathematical knowledge in real-life situations. The article stresses the need for a careful introduction of algebra in the early years, respecting students' developmental levels and the principles of mathematical literacy. Finally, it is concluded that the teaching of algebra in the early years, combined with problem solving in the context of mathematical literacy, contributes to a more solid, meaningful and relevant. Mathematics Education for the formation of students.
