Series Virtual Impedance-Based Optimization with Output Current Feed Forward for Developing Stability of Cascaded Pulsed Load Power Supply

This manuscript studied a load current feedforward to quickly track the pulsed load changes of a cascaded pulsed load power supplies (PLPS) and improve its dynamic capability, in addition to that a series virtual impedance (SVI) with input impedance optimization of rear-end converter is analyzed. It's optimized for the improvement of the system's stability at the same time it keeps high dynamic capability. The instability issues caused by output impedance of prior and input impedance of rear-end stages are prevented with the optimized SVI implementation. The optimized control scheme capability is studied along with a number of optimization strategies utilized for cascaded PLPSs. Finally, the simulation results for a PLPS with 784 W peak and 117.6 W average powers, 100 V input voltage, 28 A output pulsed current and a pulse repeating frequency (PRF) of 100-to-300 Hz validated that the presented optimization scheme is superior compared other leading optimization schemes for cascaded PLPS topologies.
