Improving The Dynamic Response and Power Quality in Wind Turbine-DFIG Systems Using The Super Twisting Algorithm
This study introduces a new control strategy to improve the dynamic response and power quality of wind turbine systems with Doubly Fed Induction Generators (DFIGs) by utilizing super-twisting sliding mode control (ST-SMC), a specific form of Second-Order Sliding Mode Control. This method aims to tackle the inherent challenges of wind energy conversion systems (WECS), including fluctuating wind speeds and system nonlinearities, by effectively reducing the chattering phenomenon, ensuring finite-time convergence, and maintaining stability under various operating conditions. The validity of the proposed control approach was demonstrated through simulations carried out using MATLAB/Simulink software.
