Transient Voltage Stability Assessment Based on Maximum Lyapunov Exponent of Phase Angle

The transient voltage stability assessment (TVSA) based on Maximum Lyapunov Exponent (MLE) has aroused widespread attention. However, inaccurate assessment results appear due to the MLE oscillation. In this regard, this paper presents a TVSA approach based on MLE of phase angle. First, the calculation method of MLE is demonstrated. Further, the MLE-based TVSA process is designed. Moreover, based on the SIMULINK environment, three-phase short-circuit faults are simulated in the Kundur's two-area system to prove the effectiveness of the presented method, different fault parameters are set to probe the influence on MLE TVSA results, and the application of the proposed method in the MMC-HVDC system is well examined. The TVSA results affirm the efficacy and applicability of the presented method.
