Model Predictive Control for Voltage Control in Wind Farms
This paper proposes a model-based predictive control to regulate the voltage for a wind farm. The active session of the wind farm controller (WFC) is a proportional controller that allocates the dispatch power to each turbine in proportion to the available power of each turbine. The reactive session regulates the optimal output of the wind turbines (WTGs) and SVG, stabilizes the POC and WTG node voltages as well as retains the maximum fast reactive capacity by means of MPC. In order to improve the computational efficiency and effectively solve the convergence-related problems, this paper adopts the analytical method of sensitivity coefficients for calculation. In order to verify the feasibility of the method, a wind farm model consisting of 20 wind turbines and one SVG is designed to assess the feasibility of the method. The experimental results show that the wind farm model can effectively improve the control accuracy and performance of the wind farm.
