Robust Nonlinear PI DC-Link Voltage Control for Pumping Kite Generator Systems
Pumping kite wind generators (PKWG) represent a groundbreaking avenue for future wind power generation, harnessing wind energy at higher altitudes where it is more abundant and consistent. This innovative technology employs kites to capture wind energy, which is then converted into electricity through a generator/motor system connected to the grid via power electronics. Like other renewable energy systems tied to the grid, DC-link voltage control is crucial for optimizing energy generation and ensuring seamless integration with the grid. In this study, a robust nonlinear proportional-integral (PI) controller is proposed for DC-link voltage control in PKWG. Numerical simulations demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed strategy, highlighting its robustness, stability, and enhanced control performance compared to classical PI controllers.
